A Modified VW 4 Speed Mainshaft Bearing Is Needed To Fit The 4 Speed Case. The Thrust Area On A Stock 4 Mainshaft Bearing Is Smaller Than The Thrust On The 1.13) 5 speed, 4th Gear. So a Shoulder Is Macined Into the 4 Speed Bearing.

A Thrust Washer From a VW 02J Transmission Is Then Used to Match The Thrust Area On The Close Ratio 4th Gear.

This 3.94 5 Speed Was A Perfect Ratio Match For This Applocation. It Is Simply Chopped & Fitted For The 4 Speed (Lower Right)
